Forestry Services / Power Workers' Union Hiring Hall - Electrical Forester/Utility Arborist Apprentices

The Hydro One/Power Workers’ Union (PWU) Joint Forestry Training Committee (JFTC) is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of an apprenticeship training program as provided in Appendix “A” between Hydro One and the PWU.
The JFTC currently requires Electrical Forester/Utility Arborist Apprentices.  The apprentices will be hired in Smith Falls/Barrie and remain there for approximately seven weeks after which they will be transferred throughout the province.  The jointly organized program is a 6,000 hour apprenticeship that, when successfully concluded, provides Electrical Forester Journeyperson/Utility Arborist status.  Applicants require their completed Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent) including Grade 12 Mathematics and English to qualify for the position.  Applicants must also have related employment experience, related post-secondary education and the demonstrated ability to work at great heights.  Applicants must also be willing to move around the province.
Before you apply, please make sure you have completed these items:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma with completed Grade 12 Math and Grade 12 English – or out of province equivalent.
  • Updated resume in MS Word format (no wordperfect, no skydrive – only MS Word) with an objective – don’t just send a resume.
  • Copies of your high school transcripts
  • Working email address
  • No fear of heights

If you are a qualified ABORIGINAL (First Nation, Métis and Inuit) candidate , please send your resume to the attention of Paul Sayers, Aboriginal Recruitment Consultant, Hydro One at aboriginal.recruitment@hydroone.com

From there, you will be sent information on how to apply.  Please note, that only those who have their OSSD (or equivalent) including Grade 12 Mathematics and English qualify for the position.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  This is a very competitive process and only those who have the above requirements plus additional experience will be considered.

DEADLINE TO APPLY IS  FEBRUARY 10TH, 2012 TO BE CONSIDERED FOR POSITIONS AVAILABLE IN 2012.
